Ryan's father started this shop back in 1977 as a restoration and body shop. Some of his earliest memories are fixing cars in this shop. Now decades later, him and his wife Cheri have put a new spin on the business turning it into a full service auto care shop.
Ryan
Ryan Hicks is Owner and Lead Technician for Ryan’s Automotive. He was born and raised in Santa Rosa, and spent most of his childhood days after school in this same building wrenching on old engines when it was his father’s auto body shop. Ryan has had a gift for all things mechanical, but took a special interest in combustion engines and automobiles from the influence of both his father and a passionate auto shop teacher in high school.
Since, Ryan has spent his time mastering his craft of automotive mechanics working his way up through the ranks to Master Technician for Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, & Ram. He’s worked as a Master Tech for both dealerships, as well as independent shops, deepening his breadth and depth of all domestic and Asian manufacturers. He’s ASE Certified and prides himself on staying relevant on all new and upcoming technology in the automotive world. Ryan is also involved in a community of independent automotive shop owners (ASCCA) who meet regularly to discuss industry best practices.
When you meet Ryan it is clear how much he loves what he does, not just because he likes to tinker on cars, or help mold the industry through groups like the ASCCA, but also, he enjoys helping people. Helping people make informed decisions on how to maintain their vehicles is the most important part of his practice. Ryan will listen to your needs and make sure your expectations are met!
In his off time Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, wife Cheri and two young children Ashton and Chloe. Together they enjoy the outdoors hiking and biking. It’s in Ryan’s blood to fix. If he’s not fixing cars at the shop he’s home working on the house. Ryan is also a committed student of CrossFit and can be found every morning at the crack of dawn, before he opens the shop, doing his workout of the day (WOD).
Cheri
Cheri Hicks is the Office Manager of Ryan’s Automotive. She loves getting to know customers and genuinely cares about taking care of their automotive needs. While she’s never had the gift of wrenching she has passed more than her fair share of wrenches. Cheri’s father is a hobby man and she has spent many evenings and weekends as a kid passing tools and doing basic tasks as her father restored old cars.
Cheri has her BA degree from University of California, Irvine in Psychology. Since opening Ryan’s Automotive Cheri’s has enjoyed attending automotive classes at the Junior College so she can help people understand their automotive problems and help find the best solution.
Cheri comes to Ryan’s Automotive with a background in both sales in the solar industry, and management. She’s very excited to bring those skills and apply them to the automotive industry. If Cheri’s not at the shop she’s spending time with her husband and two children. Cheri is also actively involved in the US Gymnastics program and is a practicing judge and is a lifelong student of yoga.
